On a trip to Bald Head Island for a photo shoot and interview the rain washed us out, but before the weather turned on us, I snapped one good shot of one of North Carolina’s iconic lighthouses, Old Baldy. Old Baldy is the oldest lighthouse in North Carolina and one of six you can climb. Unlike the other lighthouses, Old Baldy is unpainted and in places the brick that makes up its thick walls shows through the coating of mortar that serves as its shell.
